

Aleksandra Kocheva
Piano
Pianist Aleksandra Kocheva started her musical studies at age 5 in her native
Bulgaria. She graduated from the International School of Music in Sofia and
furthered her training at the Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria where she studied
piano performance and received her Bachelor of Music degree. At that time
Aleksandra co-founded Kocheva Duo together with her twin sister Nikoleta Kocheva
and released their debut album for piano duo “ Ad Libitum.” As a recipient of the
prestigious Erasmus scholarship, awarded by the European Union program for
outstanding performance, Aleksandra continued her studies at Hochschule fur
Musik and Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart, Germany. Settling in New York,
Aleksandra has continued a life of teaching music and giving piano lessons, growing
as a musician and performer. She has played at Carnegie Hall, Steinway hall, Merkin
Hall and has premiered many works by well-known composers including Milton
Babbitt. While finishing her Master’s Degree in piano performance at the Aaron
Copland School of Music, where she earned the Artur Balsam scholarship (for trio)
and received the Chamber Music Live award given to extraordinary achievements n
chamber music, she mainlined an international touring schedule preforming in the
US, Europe, and Asia. As a soloist she made debut recitals at Carnegie Hall, and with
Kocheva Duo concerts at Steinway hall and Tonhalle Zurich. Aleksandra maintains
an active career as a solo and chamber music performer in the United States and
Europe. She has a private teaching studio for children and adults from all over the
NYC metro area.
