Gabe Smith

Violin

Gabryel Smith, violin, began his studies at the age of five with his mother, Susan Slowick. A native of the Boston area, he attended the New England Conservatory Preparatory School and the Young Artists program at Tanglewood. A frequent performer in New York City, Gabe holds a dual degree in Violin Performance and History from N.Y.U. where he studied with Stephanie Chase. He is a member of the SORA quartet and performs with many musical groups in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Gabe is also Director of Archives and Exhibitions for the New York Philharmonic, where he has enjoyed researching and preserving the collection of America’s oldest symphony orchestra since 2009. He has lectured about the New York Philharmonic’s history for audiences at Princeton, Juilliard, New York University, and around Lincoln Center as well as at conferences such as the Society of American Archivists. Mr. Smith received his Master’s in Archival training and history from New York University.
