Nisreen Nor
Bassoon
Nisreen Nor is a classically trained bassoonist, raised in Brooklyn and currently based in Queens. An active freelance musician, she regularly performs throughout New York and the surrounding areas with orchestras, opera and chamber ensembles and more. Nisreen has worked with a variety of ensembles, including Brooklyn Metro Chamber Orchestra, New England Symphonic Ensemble, Trilogy Opera Company, Soulful Symphony and Mimesis Ensemble, among others. She also regularly performs with Greenwich Village Orchestra, String Orchestra of Brooklyn, Chelsea Symphony, and various chamber projects. As an avid music lover, she has enjoyed playing not only traditional classical music, but also jazz and rock and has worked with living composers to premiere new music.
Nisreen earned her Master of Music degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Stephen Paulson and her Bachelor of Music degree at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where she studied with Frank Wangler. She also studied locally with Gail Hightower. In her spare time, Nisreen works at the Metropolitan Opera Guild.
